This was the first transactional site for the brand after being purchased by Estée Lauder Companies.
A highbrow,  brand demanding an exclusive luxury feel. I lead the Design and UX for this project working closely with Kilian HQ and the delivery team from discovery and UX, through to design, build and launch.


The Challenge
Kilian was the first high-end acquisition for the EL Companies. The site needed to be fully transactional and built using its bespoke e-commerce platform. They had only ever had a small brochure site prior to this. The relationship with the client ( Kilian) needed to be a close one, working with their Creative Director and Marketing team.

The Process
The first step was to have a discovery session with the Kilian team in Paris. During this process, we gathered as much information about the brand, their values, their image and their products. It was very clear that their product story had never been written and the site had to do this. We took this information away and then conducted a workshop with the creative and experience teams. 
We then presented back our vision for the site including storytelling, user flows, site map, mood boards and styling. Working closely with the ELC Global product team we set out our vision for the site and built the flows, site map and wires checking along the way what was possible within budget constraints.

The Result
Whilst utilising site features that had been built into the platform and designing a slick UI for these,  in addition, we also added bespoke elements to the site such as a section on the story behind the fragrance collections, a video introducing Kilian. A bespoke gift finder tool combining customer personality as well as scent preference. All with an ultra-slick and highbrow design.  

Extra Touches
Story telling was further enhanced with a commission to Rankin who shot a hero image for each perfume collection and we also worked with a photography studio to ensure the art direction for the product photography was in keeping with the overall creative vision. We then used these images on a new 'Perfume Stories' page to educate the customer on the fragrance collections.
